Maryann Jorgensen Obituary

Maryann Liebe-Jorgensen

Maryann departed her earthly body on May 20, 2022.  She was surrounded and held by her children and eldest grandson, while listening to The Beatles, after a very short, but valiant battle with cancer.

Maryann Liebe was born July 23, 1951 to Jerome and Ihla (nee Olson) Liebe in Iola, Wisconsin. As the sixth of eight children, Maryann spent her childhood on the family farm settled by her Norwegian immigrant ancestors. Hard work from an early age was a mainstay, but always filled with love from her parents and siblings.

Those most loved and departed before Maryann include Jerome Liebe (father), Ihla Liebe (mother), Wanda Liebe (sister), Eugene Liebe (brother), Barbara Liebe (sister), Brian Tucker (son-in-law), Asuncion Liebe (sister-in-law), Kimberly Liebe (niece) and Anthony Meverden (great-nephew).

Maryann was a Norwegian through and through, even though that was only half of her heritage, UFF DA!  She had a fun, irreverent sense of humor that she successfully passed on to her beloved children (laughter with snorts included!)  She truly enjoyed the simplest things in life.  Her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins and lifelong friends. She also had a “healthy” obsession with true-crime documentaries, TV shows and anything to do with history, especially those connected to her heritage. She was forever curious.

Maryann’s legacy lives on through her children: Jonah Parsons, Jackie Jorgensen (Jaouad Abouelkacem), George W. Jorgensen (Inbal), Gennie Lemmenes (Thom) and surrogate daughter, Melissa Gena (Wendy Holmes).  Her grandchildren: Evan, Jack, Amir, Max, Neeson and Yassmine. Siblings: Dennis Liebe (Siony), Clarice Kernen (Randy), Beatrice Malinowski (Jim), Steve Liebe (Terrie Tews) and many beloved nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

Maryann’s loving reach stretches across the globe, to eternal friends and extended family in Great Britain, Norway, Sweden and Australia. Her physical being will be cherished and missed, but great joy is found in her release of all earthly sufferings.

“You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her

Or you can be full of the love that you shared” - David Hawkins

Per her request, Maryann will be interred near her beloved grandparents Ole and Alma Olson at Northland Church in Harrison, WI.

The Memorial Service will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 6 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca.  The visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
