James W. “Jim” Held of Waupaca, age 76, went to be with the Lord on his father’s birthday, February 22, 2021 at his home. He was born in the family farmhouse in Athens WI on July 31, 1944 to the late George and Frieda (Remus) Held. Growing up with siblings and many cousins provided a lifetime of wonderful stories and memories. His parents instilled in him a strong work ethic, a caring spirit, and a love of God.
Jim met Karen Knowles in Minneapolis MN at North Central Bible College. They fell in love and were married in the Fall of 1965. They settled in Rockford, IL and he began his career in engineering and home construction with his father. Jim was a gifted architect and built every home his family lived in, as well as designing for other people and churches. He was a member of Assembly of God Churches his entire life, where he passionately supported the work of pastors and missionaries around the world.
Jim Held will be deeply missed by the family that he cherished: his wife of 55 years, Karen; children, Chantelle (Justin Fernandez) Held of Milwaukee and Travis Held, Rockford IL; Grandchildren: Nathan Held, Olivia Hammer, Myah Held and Connor Held; brothers: Ron (LaDon) Held, Dennis (Judy) Held; and sister: Joyce (Rod) Chapman, and many other special relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family believes it would be Jim’s desire to have donations made to: Saxeville Community Church – Building Fund (PO Box 59 Saxeville WI 54976.) He was on their building committee for a current project and had designed the church addition.
