Harlen "Sonny" V. Olson

Of Waupaca, formerly of Chapman, Kansas, age 83, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, with his family by his side.  He was born in Chicago, IL on November 17, 1934 to the late Harlan and Frances (Kowalski) Olson.  On July 2, 1955 he married Mavis Pagel.  Sonny enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, as well as fishing, socializing, singing, music and his dog Chucker.  He was a well-respected breeder and trainer of greyhounds.

He will be sadly missed by his wife: Mavis; children: Lorrie (Walt) Noeller of Salina, KS; Terrie (Richard) Sherrets of Waupaca; Mooch (Dixie) Olson of Solomon, KS; brothers and sisters: Robert (Shirley) Olson of TN; Lana (Leroy) Ecklund of Winneconne; Dianne Martin of TN; Andrea (Jim) McIntyre of West Palm Beach, FL; Cindy (Brian) Amundson of Iola; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jamie, brothers, Algy and Butch, sisters, Beverly, Sandra and Adrianne and beloved niece, Linda.

The Memorial Service will be on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. Friends and family may gather on Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
