Of Waupaca, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at home. He was born in Milwaukee on October 6, 1931 to the late Darrell and Helen (Surface) Cornell. Darrell was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Marines. He was a member of Post 161 in King. He loved his work as an Electronic Technician for Miller Brewery, and considered that his hobby. Darrell also enjoyed classic cars; he was a member of both the Wisconsin Chapter and Central Wisconsin Chapter Model A Clubs. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Darrell will be sadly missed by his children: David (Mayuko) Cornell; Vicki (Rick) Vigo; Chris Drillsam and Carol Drillsam; grandchildren: Robert, Ashley, Eric (Erin) and Carrie; brothers: Tom, Bob, John, Mike, Richard and Mark Cornell; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, JoyceTilley, second wife, Marlene Drillsam, one sister and three brothers.
The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Road, Waupaca, with Father Amalraj Roche officiating. The visitation will be on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
