Brian Tucker Obituary

Brian Edward Tucker, age 45, died unexpectedly in Iola, Wisconsin on January 5, 2020. Brian was born on July 30, 1974 in Fort Collins, Colorado, the son of Kathleen Tucker. He grew up in Waupaca and graduated from Waupaca High School in 1993. Brian went on to graduate from Luther College in 1997 and Marquette University in 2002. In 1999 Brian married Jackie Jorgensen and together they had a beautiful son, Evan.

Brian had numerous passions in life, including: family, teaching, biking, and the outdoors. While his accomplishments were many, he was by far most proud of his son Evan. He loved Evan with every fiber of his being and his face would light up whenever Evan's name was mentioned. The two spent much of their time together camping, fishing, and playing competitive board games with Uncle Joe.

Brian was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher for the last 18 years. He taught government and US History at the Iola/Scandinavia High School and was loved by staff and students alike. Brian was known for his unique teaching styles and infused humor, creativity, and energy into his lessons. He was dedicated to the well-being of his students and went out of his way to help those who were in most need of support.

Brian loved the outdoors and could often be found biking down country roads during the summer months. He began cycling at an early age and greatly enjoyed introducing the sport to others. Brian felt most at peace in nature and loved to camp, fish, kayak, and go on hikes with his mother.

Brian could light up a room with presence and contagious smile. He was a jokester by nature and relentlessly teased his siblings, mother, niece, and nephews. He had the ability to successfully introduce humor into any situation no matter how serious the topic. Brian loved interacting with people and was known for his deep, philosophical discussions. He possessed the unique ability to build people up and help them to understand their own strengths. Brian was an avid reader and could win a debate against anybody, although he rarely chose to do so. He loved his family dearly and protected them at all costs. He was a loyal friend to many and had an infectious spirit. Brian made the world a better place simply by being in it. He will be forever missed.

Brian is survived by his son Evan; his mother, Kathleen Tucker; his siblings: Sarah (Ian) Mickelson and Joseph Tucker; his niece and nephews: Tate, Andie, and Leif Mickelson; loving friend and co-parent Jackie Jorgensen; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents: Vernon and Joyce Grove.
